Job description

Description:

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Monitoring & MAC Installation Technician who serves as a critical link between on-site fire safety hardware and emergency response services. This role is responsible for the technical deployment of communication technologies—such as IP and cellular transmitters—that ensure fire alarm signals are reliably delivered to monitoring centers.

Beyond initial setup, this technician acts as a specialist in Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC), adapting existing life-safety systems to accommodate building renovations, tenant improvements, and evolving code requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Communication Hardware Deployment: Install, wire, and configure cellular (LTE/5G) and IP-based fire alarm communicators to ensure reliable signal transmission to the Central Station.
  • MAC Execution (Moves, Adds, Changes): Relocate or add initiating devices (smoke/heat detectors) and notification appliances (horns/strobes) to accommodate tenant improvements and renovations.
  • Circuit Diagnostics: Utilize multimeter and diagnostic tools to identify and repair ground faults, open circuits, and short circuits within SLC and NAC loops.
  • System Programming: Access and update Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) software to reflect new device addresses, modify zone descriptions, and update system logic.
  • Signal Verification & Testing: Conduct end-to-end testing with monitoring centers to verify that Alarm, Supervisory, and Trouble signals are reporting accurately and timely.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all installations and modifications strictly adhere to NFPA 72, NEC, and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
  • Power Load Management: Perform battery standby calculations and load tests to ensure system functionality during primary power outages.
  • Documentation & Red-Lining: Maintain accurate as-built drawings and "red-line" blueprints to document all field changes for fire marshal inspections.
  • System Supervision: Accountability for ensuring all circuits remain fully supervised, meaning any wire break or device failure triggers an immediate trouble signal.
  • Client Training: Educate building owners and facility managers on basic panel operation, signal interpretation, and emergency reset procedures.
Requirements:

  • 3 years Minimum of Fire Alarm Installation experience.
  • NICET 2 Preferred
  • FASA/BASA
  • Clean Driving record

What We Offer:

  • Paid time off (PTO) and holidays.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
