Job description

Part-Time Security Guard

The Lutheran Home is seeking a dependable and observant Part-Time Security Guard to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. Rooted in our values of service, excellence, dignity, fulfillment, grace, and stewardship, this role involves patrolling the campus on foot and by vehicle and assisting residents with van transportation as needed. If you are observant, reliable, and committed to serving others, we invite you to join our team and make a meaningful contribution each day. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Guard, patrol, or monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules
  • Lock doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Respond to medical emergencies by obtaining assistance from nursing staff
  • Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information
  • Transport residents on the van as needed

This part-time position is for the evening shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with 6 shifts scheduled over two weeks, including rotating weekends. Requirements:

  • Class E Driver's License with no high-risk insurance
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CPR certified (or become certified within 30 days of employment)
