We manufacture and distribute high-quality foodservice equipment, including commercial mixers, slicers, electric and gas cooking equipment, and food preparation solutions used in restaurants, schools, healthcare facilities, supermarkets, and other commercial settings worldwide.
We are looking for a motivated Shipping & Receiving Manager to join our Dayton team. This position provides an outstanding opportunity to grow your career and make a meaningful impact on our operations.
Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for leading and actively participating in the company's daily warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations. This position oversees inbound and outbound shipments, including truckload, LTL, ocean container, intermodal, and small parcel freight.
The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient receipt, storage, handling, picking, packing, kitting, and shipment of materials and finished goods. The position also oversees inventory transfers, warehouse organization, material handling, shipping documentation, and warehouse safety.
This is a hands-on leadership position that requires the ability to effectively supervise warehouse personnel while actively participating in daily operations.
Essential Functions
  • Lead, direct, train, and participate in daily warehouse activities in a fast-paced environment, including the supervision of four or more warehouse employees.
  • Coordinate the receipt of ocean containers, truckload, LTL, intermodal, and other inbound shipments. Direct and participate in unloading, inspection, scanning, palletizing, and proper storage of received goods.
  • Schedule and coordinate inventory transfers and material movements between company warehouses and facilities.
  • Manage warehouse kitting, packing, labeling, and inventory transactions to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Ensure accurate product picking and shipment preparation, including carton selection, packing, labeling, skid selection, strapping, wrapping, and securing of goods to minimize damage during transportation.
  • Select appropriate carriers and transportation modes based on service requirements, cost, shipment characteristics, and risk of damage.
  • Process shipments through computerized shipping and manifest systems and prepare all required documentation, including Bills of Lading, packing slips, commercial invoices, shipping labels, and related documents.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and prioritization of outbound shipments and ensure orders are shipped accurately and on schedule.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain warehouse and shipping policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Train and develop new and existing employees on warehouse procedures, equipment operation, shipping processes, and company safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory locations and ensure proper identification, labeling, and organization of materials and finished goods.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and communicate issues to Purchasing, Accounting, Sales, and other appropriate departments.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor warehouse equipment and identify maintenance or repair requirements. Coordinate service with appropriate internal or external resources.
  • Order, maintain, and organize shipping, packaging, and material-handling supplies.
  • Maintain productive relationships with carriers, freight representatives, drivers, vendors, and equipment and facility service providers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, reduce transportation and handling costs, minimize damage, and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive warehouse and distribution experience, including experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in a forklift-intensive warehouse environment handling LTL, truckload, intermodal, and/or ocean container shipments.
  • Valid driver's license and current forklift certification required.
  • Demonstrated experience operating and supervising the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Experience with transportation rating/shipping software, 3PL providers, ERP systems, WMS, inventory control systems, or computerized shipping/manifest systems. Experience with V-technologies, STARSHIP highly desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience with domestic and international logistics required.
  • Experience with cross-border logistics and North American trade requirements.
  • Experience with ocean containers and international freight documentation.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on with warehouse personnel and participate in physical warehouse activities.

Required Mental & Physical Abilities
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds routinely and move items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to lift and stack products above shoulder height and at floor level.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to read and operate handheld barcode scanners and computerized shipping/inventory systems.
  • Ability to safely use common warehouse tools and equipment, including tape guns, stretch-wrap equipment, strapping tools, and related packaging equipment.
  • Ability to transition effectively between warehouse and office environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and patiently with customers, vendors, carriers, drivers, and internal departments.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy, safety, and attention to detail.

Environmental Considerations
Work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment with periodic office responsibilities. The position may be exposed to varying temperatures, dust, noise, moving equipment, forklifts, loading docks, and other normal warehouse conditions.
The position requires periodic exposure to outdoor conditions, including loading and unloading operations, outdoor storage areas, transportation between company buildings, and entering ocean containers and trailers. Occasional driving or riding in company vehicles may also be required.
