Hospice Volunteer Position - Make a Difference in Someone's Life

Location: Ozark, Missouri and surrounding areas including Springfield, Branson, Joplin, Marshfield, etc.

Organization: Haven Hospice

Type: Volunteer (Flexible Hours)

At Haven Hospice, we believe in providing compassionate care that honors the dignity, comfort, and wishes of our patients and their families during the end-of-life journey. We are the last locally-owned and clinician-owned home health and hospice agency in the state of Missouri. We are looking for dedicated, compassionate individuals to join our volunteer team and help bring comfort, companionship, and support to those who need it most.

Position Overview:

As a Hospice Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in offering emotional support, companionship, and assistance to hospice patients and their families. This role provides an opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of individuals at a critical time, offering kindness, presence, and care. As a volunteer, you are able to choose what you are comfortable assisting with.

Possible Responsibilities:

  • Spend quality time with hospice patients, offering companionship through conversation, reading, or listening.
  • Provide respite care for family members by offering a break or assisting with light household tasks (such as light meal prep or errands).
  • Offer emotional support to families, helping to ease anxiety and providing a caring presence.
  • Help with non-medical tasks, such as delivering personal items or assisting with light yardwork.
  • Respect patients' wishes, maintaining a comfortable and non-judgmental environment.
  • Participate in training and ongoing education to ensure the highest level of care and understanding.
  • Working as part of the patient care team to provide great quality care to patients
