Description
POSITION PURPOSE WFYI's marketing and events intern will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to WFYI's marketing and event strategy. This internship aims to provide hands-on experience with supporting the event strategy for WFYI Live and The Economic Club of Indiana. WFYI Live provides thoughtful conversations, performances, screenings, trivia and more for the WFYI audience. The Economic Club of Indiana is celebrating 50 years as the forum for central Indiana's current and emerging leaders to hear from local and national thought leaders as part of a nine-month luncheon series averaging between 500 - 1500 attendees each month. This position will work with the marketing team on event planning, logistics, communication and on-site execution. They will also play a role in digital marketing initiatives, including social media, graphics and email execution. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, an individual will learn to accurately, satisfactorily and timely perform the functions listed below.

  • Aid in providing support to the event team for WFYI Live events and the Economic Club of Indiana Speaker Series, including logistics, communication with attendees, on-site preparation
  • Assist with day of event coordination for WFYI Live and Economic Club of Indiana
  • Learn to communicate with vendors, partners and attendees on event logistics and details
  • Help craft engaging, platform-specific copy for social media platforms to promote local and national programming and events
  • Utilize Canva templates to create visual assets for team review, while ensuring that corresponding brand standards are being utilized as they relate to WFYI and/or the Economic Club of Indiana
  • Assist with copy writing, content curation and visual template population for WFYI emails
  • Research and develop speaker bios to assist with copy writing and promotional content creation for the Economic Club of Indiana
OTHER ACTIVITIES
  • Attend WFYI marketing and communications team meetings
  • Assist with organization of WFYI's graphic management system (Canva)
  • Participate fully in WFYI's internship program activities
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience:

Required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Experience, through coursework or external training, with social media marketing, content management systems and/or email marketing tools
  • Strongly self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to attend event Economic Club luncheons and other WFYI Live events
Preferred
  • Experience with design software (Canva, Adobe)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
