Position Summary:
DLS is looking for a talented and passionate Logistics Associate to join our dynamic Logistics team. As a Logistics Associate, you play a crucial role in executing logistics operations and support to the logistics team. Your responsibilities encompass collaborating with project managers and clinical sites to obtain specimen criteria, determine shipping priorities, store samples while fostering continuous improvement in logistics processes.
A Day in the Life of a Logistics Associate at Discovery Life Sciences:
• Collaborate with project managers and clinical sites to obtain specimen criteria, ensure timely shipment of specimens and keep up with collection schedules.
• Wear proper PPE gear when handling samples, or in freezer farm and lab, i.e., lab coat, gloves, safety glasses if necessary.
• Prepare and label boxes for shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
• Manage inventory levels for laboratories, offices, clinical sites, and shipping/receiving.
Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
• High School diploma or GED required
• Previous logistics experience in biotechnology sector is preferred but required.
• Knowledge of universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, handling human specimens preferred.
• Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with excel preferred
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Must possess a willingness to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the business
• Ability to handle high stress situations with ease while maintaining a positive and productive attitude
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures to ensure efficient workflow
• Ability to use pallet jack and hand truck
• Ability to lift or move 50 lbs. regularly and move up to 300 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to respond to customer needs
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Project Managers and clinical sites to obtain specimen criteria, ensure timely shipment of specimens and keep up with collection schedules.
• Keep abreast of customer needs and priorities and adjust workflow as needed
• Determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet schedules, esp. during end of month revenue
• Maintain the freezer farm, with de-icing freezers
• Compress samples to open more storage space for inventory
• Store samples and shipments at correct temperature after and during it being pulled, i.e., -80, LN2, 4C, ambient
• Wear proper PPE gear when handling samples, or in the freezer farm and lab, i.e., lab coat, gloves, safety glasses if necessary
• Prep shipping boxes for outgoing shipments with correct labels
• Work with the lab to put away boxes they have filled into the correct locations
• Receive samples into salesforce from incoming sites to go into inventor
• Work with the team for packing shipments, pulling shipments or finding inventory boxes
• Change tanks as needed for the LN2 freezers, acknowledge freezer alarms and report any issues to the manage
• Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations
• Consistent and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position
• Other duties as assigned by the manager, these may sometimes be unrelated to the position described
