Job Summary:

The Area Manager serves as a culture champion for safety, diversity, development, and customer experience. This position is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of a specific area to ensure efficiency, quality, and alignment with strategic goals. The Area Manager plays a critical role in fostering a productive and collaborative work environment that encourages ownership, productivity, and constructive communication.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the leadership team to create an environment that fosters ownership, creativity, and constructive communication.
  • Implement the business plan for the area of responsibility by communicating goals and managing staffing, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to achieve facility goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with HRBPs on all matters concerning the overall morale and welfare of the employees.
  • Proactively lead and oversee all aspects of change management to ensure organizational growth through all levels of the floor team.
  • Strategically and tactically plan, implement, and manage the warehouse area in compliance with the company’s policies, core values, and mission.
  • Ensure that departments meet or exceed performance requirements in safety, quality, processing standards, and execution to plan.
  • Monitor and manage productivity by preparing, reviewing, and analyzing business reports.
  • Identify associate, customer, and supplier concerns by consulting with others and determining corrective actions to take.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards by ensuring associates are trained on Logistics and company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Proactively work to promote a growth mindset within a large team to achieve organization and site objectives.
  • Act as a servant leader who is consistently humble, self-aware, honest, and transparent.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field, highly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in warehouse and fulfillment operations, with a focus on WMS and 3PL operations.
  • Strong strategic thinker, with a track record of developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing teams.
  • Proficiency in WMS and other warehouse technologies, with the ability to manage these systems.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety and security protocols, with experience developing and implementing these protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address operational challenges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a sense of urgency and a focus on results.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on operational tasks or attending meetings.
  • Occasionally required to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular use of a computer and other office equipment, requiring hand and wrist motions.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily an office setting with occasional visits to warehouse, production, or operational facilities.
  • Fast paced and dynamic environment with frequent deadlines and evolving priorities.
  • Occasional exposure to warehouses or production noise and climate conditions.

Travel Requirements:

  • Moderate travel requires attending meetings, visiting operational sites, or managing vendor and stakeholder relationships 25% of the time.

Equipment Used:

  • Standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telecommunication devices.
  • Operational management tools, software, and systems (e.g., ERP, inventory management systems). 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee and manage warehouse supervisors, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to department supervisors and team leads to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of mutual trust and respect, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all teams.
