Job Description
The Operations Manager leads and directs all warehouse, transportation and facility related activities within a distribution center(s). This role ensures efficient product handling, timely deliveries, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Operations Manager drives operational excellence through strong leadership, process optimization, and a customer-centric mindset.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee day to day warehouse and transportation operations and associates
  • Provide strategic leadership and support regional operations management with short and mid-term planning for the distribution center
  • Provide positive and inspirational leadership to all distribution center associates
  • Ensuring operations are performed in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Control staff to adhere to company standards for inventory and loss control
  • Establish and maintain an effective staffing plan. Manage full-time and temporary headcount to meet budget and operational objectives.
  • Select, train, develop, and motivate employees; evaluate performance, lead with courage, combat turnover, and maintain morale and culture.
  • Manage route logistics for efficient deliveries and ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment to protect employee well-being and minimize risk and loss to the company.
  • Manage expenses to an operational budget and review cost of goods to maximize profitability.
  • Provide logistical input to streamline the operation while improving efficiency.
  • Work with Sales Management and Procurement to ensure a best-in-class customer experience
  • Oversee maintenance and safety standards for the facility, equipment and vehicles.
  • Approve credits for returns or pricing.
  • Ensure OSHA and DOT compliance for all employees, equipment and vehicles.
  • Additional duties or special projects as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse or distribution operations, with at least 2 years in a management role
  • High school diploma or equivalent; College degree a plus
  • Inspirational leadership skills to build and retain a high performing team
  • Strong knowledge of ERP and WMS systems with ability to learn and train others on new systems
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and all safety compliance standards
  • Experience in fleet management
  • Lean Six Sigma or distribution related certifications highly preferred
  • Clear understanding of Profit & Loss principles and budgeting
  • Intermediate experience with MS Office
  • Ability to be flexible and work extended or adjusted hours to ensure presence and support across all shifts, or to address urgent customer needs
  • Experience and ability to operate Material Handling Equipment and drive company Delivery Vehicles as necessary
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving history
  • Ability to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs and walk, climb, kneel, stoop, and balance frequently
