What you’ll do

  • Build and foster an aggressive, high performing inside sales environment while ensuring the team operates within company guiding principles.
  • Regularly review inside sales activities and identify opportunities to shift non-direct selling activities to sales support functions.
  • Develop and monitor team goals including sales performance, gross profit targets, inventory health, phone performance metrics, and program renewals.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop inside sales team members to help them achieve individual and team performance goals.
  • Partner closely with the outside sales manager to align initiatives, strategies, and market opportunities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the sales team and the purchasing department.
  • Research and resolve inventory issues, product availability questions, and outages to allow inside sales to stay focused on customer service and selling.
  • Deliver accurate weekly and monthly sales forecasts to support purchasing and inventory planning.
  • Monitor inventory movement and trends while identifying potential risks, inefficiencies, or problem areas.
  • Share local market intelligence with purchasing teams to improve product availability and responsiveness to customer demand.
  • Develop and implement strategies that improve overall inventory health, including slow-moving inventory programs, localized offerings, and inventory swap-out solutions.
  • Track key performance indicators that improve customer experience, including On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery performance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the sales team and logistics operations.
    Partner with the logistics operations manager to resolve service issues such as mis-picks, shipment damage, or delivery challenges.
  • Document and analyze 100% of service failures to identify root causes and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Work with logistics teams daily to maximize truck routing efficiency, delivery performance, and overall profitability.
  • Analyze sales metrics and market trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational optimization.
  • Ensure sales initiatives are executed effectively through collaboration with sales leadership and supporting departments.
  • Maintain accurate data management within CRM and sales systems to support reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Present insights, performance updates, and operational plans to both small and large groups within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience in sales, sales operations management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in sales, sales operations management, or a similar leadership role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a high-growth sales environment that requires strong collaboration, strategic thinking, and operational execution.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including the ability to create and host presentations and analyze data.

  • Experience working with Infor systems and sales performance software.
