Odyssey Logistics is hiring a Terminal Operations Manager to lead our Soldotna, AK terminal. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who understands Alaska freight, knows the Kenai Peninsula market, and is ready to strengthen operations, develop people, support customers, and help grow our regional presence.

You will have real ownership of the terminal while being backed by the resources, stability, and growth opportunities of a global logistics company.

The Role

The Terminal Operations Manager is responsible for leading the overall performance of Odyssey’s Soldotna terminal, including daily operations, safety, service execution, cost control, team leadership, customer relationships, and local growth opportunities.

This role is ideal for a logistics leader who enjoys being close to the operation, leading from the floor, solving problems, improving processes, and building strong relationships with employees and customers.

What You’ll Do

Lead Terminal Operations:
Oversee daily terminal activity, including receiving, loading/unloading, staging, dispatch, yard activity, fleet coordination, service execution, and overall operational performance.

Develop the Team:
Lead, coach, and develop employees while supporting staffing, onboarding, training, engagement, performance management, and workforce planning.

Drive Safety and Compliance:
Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, HAZMAT, company policies, and applicable safety standards.

Manage Costs and Performance:
Monitor labor, overtime, vendor spend, productivity, expenses, KPIs, and reporting to improve service, efficiency, accountability, and cost control.

Support Customers and Growth:
Build strong customer relationships, partner with Sales and Pricing, support local customer visits, gather market insight, and help identify new business opportunities.

Improve Processes:
Develop and improve SOPs, work instructions, and operating practices across dock, office, city, linehaul, dispatch, and supervisory functions.

Partner Cross-Functionally:
Work with Safety, Sales, Pricing, Customer Service, Claims, HR, Finance, and Operations leadership to strengthen service execution and support business growth.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of logistics, 3PL, terminal, distribution center, cross-dock, freight forwarding, trucking, or transportation operations experience
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, training, staffing, performance management, and employee engagement
  • Strong understanding of terminal operations, labor planning, service execution, safety compliance, and cost control
  • Financial acumen, including exposure to P&L, pricing levers, cost-to-serve, margin analysis, or operating expense management
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to build relationships, resolve issues, and represent the business professionally
  • Ability to lead changes, standardize processes, improve performance, and drive measurable results
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operational/reporting systems
  • Outside sales, business development, customer prospecting, or logistics sales experience preferred
  • Ability to become forklift certified
