Job description

Our Ketchikan Motorcoach & Guest Services team is looking for a dynamic Assistant Manager in our Shore Excursion Operations to help support the daily logistics and operations within the division. You will oversee communications with the cruise ships and local vendors. You will also assist with excursion planning & allocations. You will assist in managing a team of seasonal Operations Supervisors and Dock Representatives and help ensure overall management coverage for the entire division with a focus on compliance, safety, guest satisfaction, daily dispatching and scheduling.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees training, management & coaching of all seasonal Operations Supervisors and Dock Representatives staff to meet guests' satisfaction & organizations safety requirements.

  • Oversees vendor & ship communications relating to tour counts, scheduling & logistics.

  • Assists with building and auditing allocations of tour seats.

  • Assists with creating the daily dispatch.

  • Support the local team and performs "Manager on Duty" responsibilities.

  • Assists with recruiting & hiring all seasonal positions within the division.

  • Assists with local SAY & HESS initiatives.

Requirements:

  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent certification is required.

  • Two years' experience in Hospitality, Transportation, or Guest Services is preferred.

  • Current or the ability to attain an Alaska Driver's license with Commercial Driver's License B endorsement. The CDL endorsement may be obtained through Company training course. Suitable driving record required, a Motor Vehicle Report will be requested. 
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. 
  • Ability to prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment. 
  • Ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail and accuracy, and supervise & manage staff. 
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.

  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to communicate, coordinate and collaborate with different cruise ships, local vendors, multiple departments, management, and staff. 

  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.

  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.

  • Work may require you to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • Work beyond normal business hours or weekends will be required to support business needs during our summer cruise season.
