Job description

Who you are: You are an experienced Loader Operator who takes pride in being an effective part of a team by working well with co-workers, being safe and productive. Come join our team as a Mobile Log Loader Operator and be a key part of moving raw timber from the forest to the mill. We're looking for someone who is safe, knows the woods, respects the machine, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

What the job is: The Log Loader Operator works in the Operations department to safely and efficiently move and load logs. Tasks for the operator include:

Operate a mobile log loader to efficiently and safely move and load logs from decks to trucks for transport to local mills.

Sort and stage logs by species, grade, and size to optimize yarding operations and meet manufacturing specifications.

Maintain a solid working knowledge of log quality standards and current sorting requirements.

Support shovel logging operations as needed, this means navigating tight spaces on rough, steep terrain in all types of weather.

Perform routine machine maintenance including fueling, greasing, and minor repairs to keep the equipment running at its best.

Work schedule: Your schedule will be determined upon hire. The schedule changes with the season. An example of the schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Usual days off are Saturday and Sunday. During the height of the season (summer months) there is overtime available during the week and a few Saturdays.

Where you'll work:Your mustering point will be at Green Diamond shop and office located at Crannell in Humboldt County along the northern California coast. The Crannell office is nestled in the forest where the redwoods meet the Pacific Ocean.

Compensation Details:This is a union job. The hourly rate for this job is $35.31. There is a probationary period per the Collective Bargaining Agreement of 90 days for new hires. During that time the pay is $33.31 per hour. The wage is just one part of the total compensation package.Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company financial bonus.

In addition, the Union offers a generous benefit package to include medical, RX, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance. Green Diamond offers a 401(k) plan with match and profit sharing. Paid time off includes 9 designated and up to 2 personal holidays, 10 vacation days, 5 sick days, 3 days bereavement, an extra 2 days bereavement unpaid, and jury duty.
