Job Description
Job Title: Locum Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician
Profession: Physician

Shift: Monday to Friday clinic coverage
Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM to 4:15 PM, with nightly call on weekdays and 24-hour weekend call coverage
Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible MFM, Fellowship trained
License: Virginia License (required)
Certifications: BLS (required), AIUM Certification (preferred)
Description:
We are seeking a Locum Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician to provide coverage.
Coverage includes the practice setting of office and inpatient services.
The reason for coverage is to support during a recruitment period.
Dates for coverage are currently unknown.
The average number of scheduled patients per day is 27.
There is one physician per site, and two provider services are available.
One provider covers the first site while another provider covers a different site.
There is also support from a Nurse Practitioner who rotates sites.
The locum will not be responsible for supervising other healthcare providers.
The office has three exam rooms and does not have an onsite lab.
Onsite ultrasound services are available.
Equipment includes a GE 10 ultrasound machine.
Support staff includes a clinic educator, sonographer, genetic counselor, and front office team.
The practice consists of 5% low-risk pregnancies and 95% high-risk pregnancies.
There are no average nursery admissions per day, and the nursery level is III.
The documentation system used is EPIC and Viewpoint.
Required procedures and skill sets include:
- Amniocentesis
- Chorionic Villus Sampling
- Cerclage (preferred)
- Management of pre-eclampsia, multiple pregnancies, growth restriction, chromosomal abnormalities, congenital abnormalities, pre-term labor, hypertension, thrombophilia, genetic disorders, birth defects, vaginal birth, and cesarean birth.
- Experience with fetal or maternal co-morbidities that make a pregnancy high risk is also required.
Estimated credentialing timeframe is 90 days.
Facility reimburses for travel costs including flight, hotel, rental car, and mileage billed at the IRS standard rate.
A Self-Query NPDB report is mandatory at the time of presentation and must be dated within 30 days.
Weekday and weekend on-call duties are required.
