Collections Specialist - Auto Finance

Position Summary

As a Collections Specialist you will be responsible for contacting customers who are delinquent in the repayment of their loans and obtain payments, commitment agreements, or establish a repayment plan. The successful candidate acts as a liaison between the creditor and customer and effectively manages overdue accounts.

Additional duties include phone and email communication and maintaining a variety of organizational databases. The successful candidate ensures all collection calls are accurately notated, follows state and federal debt collection laws, and adheres to company policies and procedures.


 Basic Responsibilities


  • Make collection calls and/or write correspondence
  • Provide professional customer service regarding collection issues
  • Process and review account adjustments
  • Resolve customer discrepancies and short payments
  • Monitor and maintain assigned accounts
  • Meet department defined department goals and activity metrics
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary
  • Enlist the efforts of supervisors/management when necessary to accelerate the collection process
  • Must communicate & follow up effectively with customer accounts in a timely manner

Skills & Qualifications


  • Bilingual- English/Spanish is REQUIRED
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work in a fast paced goal oriented collections department
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Previous customer service experience a plus
  • High school diploma
