Transportation Manager (Logistics)
Location: DFW Area
Department: Logistics / Traffic
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Transportation Manager is responsible for coordinating daily transportation activities, including load planning, routing, carrier communication, and shipment tracking. This role ensures cost-effective and timely delivery while supporting logistics operations through strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and manage truckload and partial load quotes using Loadsmart TMS
  • Plan and route shipments based on transit times and cost-effective delivery methods
  • Determine trailer capacity and optimize load space utilization
  • Maintain and update truckload tracking spreadsheets in Excel
  • Coordinate with brokers and internal branches to ensure loads are scheduled and executed on time
  • Proactively follow up on shipments and resolve delivery issues or delays
  • Respond to inquiries from brokers and internal teams within 24 hours or less
  • Perform daily load status checks to confirm shipments are covered and moving as planned
  • Review and approve freight invoices; submit to accounting for processing
  • Track and maintain performance metrics for the DFW location

Qualifications
Required:
  • Experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (creating, formatting, sorting, and tracking data)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities

Preferred:
  • Experience with TMS platforms (e.g., Loadsmart or similar systems)
  • Knowledge of truckload/partial load shipping and routing practices
