Job Description:

MARS Solutions Group is looking for an experienced Controls Technician located in San Leandro, CA. Our client is a Building Automation Leader looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. They are known to respect a traditional work week and often extend contracts for added job security and stability

 

About the Role

We are seeking a Controls Technician to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC control systems. This role involves working on-site across multiple locations, ensuring systems are installed, configured, and operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Perform commissioning and startup of HVAC control systems

Load controller software and configure system settings

Troubleshoot BMS hardware/software and resolve system issues

Interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls schematics

Calibrate sensors, actuators, and field devices

Document work, maintain service records, and provide updates to stakeholders

Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities

Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience with low voltage systems (24VAC, 24VDC, 0–10V, 4–20mA)

Basic understanding of HVAC systems (VAV, RTU, fan coils, etc.)

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

Familiarity with BMS platforms (Metasys, Facility Explorer preferred)

Knowledge of BACnet/IP, MSTP, or similar protocols

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally

Ability to pass background check (including MVR)

Good communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

HVAC certifications (EPA 608, NATE, or similar)

Technical diploma or associate degree (HVAC, electronics, or related)

Experience commissioning or servicing building automation systems

Experience Levels

Level I: Entry-level, strong technical aptitude, basic tools & computer skills

Level II: 2+ years experience with HVAC/controls systems

Level III: 4+ years experience, advanced troubleshooting and mentoring ability


Additional Information

Duration: 03 Months with possibility of extension

Location:  San Leandro, CA 94577

Shift hours:  1st shift, 2nd shift, and 3rd shift. Most shifts are 1st, but we do have occasional 2nd and 3rd shifts.
