Job description


DNV Energy Systems is seeking an LNG expert with deep technical capability and a strong, active industry network to help expand DNV's LNG advisory and assurance services across North America.
The Principal LNG Growth & Advisory Lead will lead service development, drive strategic growth through their established LNG industry relationships, and act as a trusted advisor to LNG developers, operators, EPCs, and financial stakeholders.
This role combines deep LNG process and terminal expertise with the ability to open doors, recognize unmet customer needs, and co-develop new offerings that strengthen DNV's market position.
The role will be based in Houston, TX .
This position can be located in our Houston, TX office, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.
What You'll Do
Lead service expansion & market growth:
  • Serve as a primary growth engine for DNV's LNG services, identifying gaps in the market and shaping new advisory offerings that align with customer needs and DNV's strategic direction.
  • Leverage a strong, active LNG industry network to secure new relationships with owners, developers, EPC contractors, and investors, expanding DNV's presence on major LNG projects.
  • Develop strategic account plans and lead major opportunity pursuits, working closely with regional leaders and key account managers.
  • Act as a visible DNV ambassador at conferences, industry groups, and networking events, strengthening DNV's reputation as a technical authority and trusted partner.

Deliver high-value technical advisory:
  • Provide expert advisory for LNG export terminal construction, including constructability reviews, EPC oversight support, commissioning readiness, and project execution assurance.
  • Support customers throughout operations and performance optimization, bringing insights into LNG processes such as liquefaction systems, refrigeration cycles, gas treatment, utilities/offsites, storage, marine export, and BOG management.
  • Lead or contribute to technical due diligence, independent engineering, risk reviews, and operational readiness assessments.
  • Facilitate multi-disciplinary LNG studies, integrating expertise from process safety, digital analytics, reliability, and gas value chain teams.

Strengthen technical excellence across DNV:
  • Mentor internal staff and support development/upskilling of LNG competencies across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence to ensure consistency, quality, and technical leadership across all LNG-related engagements.

Qualifications
What is Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of in-depth LNG experience, including work on export terminal construction, commissioning, or operations.
  • Direct involvement with major LNG Capital projects in the Gulf Coast.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and grow customer relationships using an established industry network.
  • Strong technical foundation in LNG processes and practical project execution (construction, commissioning, start-up).
  • Strong technical understanding of major commercial LNG technology licensors, their offerings and pros and cons for regional deployment.
  • Proven advisory capability, with experience presenting complex technical topics to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for customer visits, project sites, and industry events.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

What is Preferred
  • Experience as owner's engineer, independent engineer, or lender's/insurer's technical advisor for LNG assets.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for performance, reliability, or process analytics.
  • Professional licensure (PE) or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP).
