High earnings are typically associated with independent contracting, tips, or commission-based pay structures.

What is a Livery job?

A livery job typically involves transporting passengers or goods in a for-hire vehicle, such as a taxi, limousine, or chauffeur service. Drivers in livery services may work independently or for a company, providing scheduled or on-demand rides. Unlike traditional taxis, livery vehicles often require pre-arranged bookings. Livery drivers must have the appropriate licenses and follow local regulations. This job can involve long hours, customer service skills, and knowledge of efficient routes.

Such roles often require professional driving skills, a clean record, and sometimes additional certifications or licensing. Most other jobs with this pay rate are highly specialized or executive-level positions in fields like consulting, legal, or medical professions.

What does a typical day look like for someone working in livery services?

A typical day in a livery position involves a mix of hands-on animal care—such as feeding, grooming, and turning out horses—and tasks like mucking out stalls, cleaning tack, and maintaining the stable environment. You may also interact with horse owners, assist with arranging veterinary or farrier visits, and help keep accurate records of each animal’s needs. Depending on the size of the facility, you may work independently or as part of a small team. The work can be physically demanding and requires a consistent routine, but it's also highly rewarding for those passionate about horses and their wellbeing. Collaboration is key, especially during busy periods or when responding to unexpected animal care needs.
