Job description

As Department Manager IV, you will manage departmental operations and oversee an annual budget of more than $11.2 million for the Biological Resource Unit (BRU) within Shared Laboratory Resources. In this role, you will partner closely with BRU leadership to lead strategic initiatives, oversee workflow planning, process improvements, scheduling, and facility operations across five locations while driving operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee employee HR and Annual Performance Review (APR) processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding, ensuring compliance with policies and the high-security standards required for research environments. Additionally, you will support capital planning, renovation and construction projects, lead continuous improvement initiatives, supervise specialty service teams, and serve as a backup to the Facilities Manager while helping the BRU achieve operational goals and key performance metrics.

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Manage department personnel and operations, including staffing, training, workflowanalysisand performance management.

  • Manage staffing to ensureappropriate allocationand compliance with goals andobjectives.

  • Monitor quality and financial performance.

  • Ensure compliance with government health regulations, JCAHO guidelines, qualityrequirementsand customer service standards.

  • Recommend enhancement andcost savingstrategies.

  • Resolve interdepartmental issues to ensure consistency in quality,procedureand policy application.

  • Develop, monitor and implement programs to enhance customer service, enhanceskillsand improve scope of service.

  • Participate inmanagers'meetings and relevant committees as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or a related fieldand six years of supervisory or management experience

  • ORMaster's Degreeand five years of experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Healthcare experience

  • Project Management experience (major projects, including renovations)

  • Change Management experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.

  • May require extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.

  • Must be able to walk to attend meetings; must have normal or corrected vision to normal range.

  • Ability to clearly communicate by phone and in person.

  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $84,200.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $128,412.50
