Job description

Since 1997, Mike Cunningham, owner of Cunningham Restaurant Group (CRG), has created an array of unforgettable dining experiences for guests and local communities. From its humble beginnings in Brownsburg, Indiana, CRG has grown into a thriving tri-state restaurant group built on innovation, hospitality, and a commitment to community impact. Today, CRG encompasses 40+ restaurants across 18+ unique concepts, with a continued focus on sustainable growth and operational excellence.

BRU Burger Bar is built around great burgers, genuine hospitality, and a fun, energetic atmosphere. Known for its chef-driven approach to a classic American favorite, BRU combines high-quality ingredients, craft beverages, and exceptional service to create a neighborhood gathering place where guests feel welcome and team members thrive.

We are seeking an Assistant Manager to join the leadership team at BRU Burger Bar. This role is ideal for a hospitality-focused leader who enjoys developing people, driving results, and creating a positive, high-energy culture for both guests and team members.

As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, leading shifts, coaching team members, supporting financial and operational goals, and ensuring every guest receives an outstanding experience. The ideal candidate is hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced environment, holds themselves and others accountable, and leads with a servant-hearted approach.

This position offers the opportunity to grow your leadership skills, make a meaningful impact on your team, and build a rewarding career with CRG.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting General Manager:

    • Collaborate with the General Manager in daily operations, planning, and decision-making.

    • Assist in setting and achieving financial goals, monitoring performance, and making improvements as needed.

  2. Staff Supervision and Training:

    • Oversee and support the front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

    • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing staff to maintain high service standards.

    • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback and coaching as required.

  3. Customer Service:

    • Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service and resolve any guest concerns or issues.

    • Foster a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, ensuring guests feel valued and appreciated.

    • Assist in maintaining and enhancing the restaurant's reputation for outstanding service.

  4. Operational Excellence:

    • Participate in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, including scheduling, inventory management, and quality control.

    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

    • Collaborate with the General Manager to optimize menu offerings and promotions.

  5. Financial Management:

    • Assist in managing the budget, controlling costs, and maximizing revenue.

    • Monitor financial reports, analyze data, and recommend strategies for improved profitability.

    • Contribute to inventory management and cost control efforts.

  6. Team Collaboration:

    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.

    • Support and implement company policies and procedures.

    • Step in as the acting General Manager in their absence.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role in a casual restaurant or upscale casual establishment is preferred.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Understanding of food and beverage operations, service standards, and industry best practices.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in restaurant management software and point-of-sale systems.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Flexible spending accounts available

  • 401k with company match

  • Paid time off

  • Excellent dining benefits

Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience. If you are a dynamic, experienced leader with a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences, we encourage you to apply. Join the CRG team and help play a vital role in our company’s success while also excelling in your career!
