Job Summary:
Publix Super Markets, Inc. is the largest employee-owned company in the U.S., driven by a technology team delivering innovative solutions. The PTS Support Technician position provides IT technical support, focusing on the installation, repair, and maintenance of IT hardware in Publix retail stores.
Responsibilities:
• Perform installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of IT hardware including:
• Desktop computers
• Servers
• Laser and thermal printers
• Point of sale systems
• Barcode scanners
• Weighing devices
• Networking systems
• Support Publix retail stores through on-site visits
• Travel between store locations to perform technical tasks
• Complete majority of work between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation
• Required to work rotating weekends
• May be required to work holidays, as needed
• Augment support in other geographic areas when required
Qualifications:
Required:
• Candidate must live in the Greenville, SC area, or surrounding area, or must be willing to relocate there upon acceptance of the position
• Associate degree in information technology, or equivalent technical experience
• 1+ year of PC/Technical support experience
• Basic understanding of IT hardware and industry standards
• Basic understanding of Windows Operating Systems
• Basic understanding of thermal and laser printing
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Cable management and troubleshooting skills
• Computer and electronic equipment installation skills
• Must be at least 20 years of age
• Must have a valid driver license and maintain an excellent driving record
• Work a variable shift, based on demands of current projects. Shifts will include overnight, evening, early morning, and/or daytime work, depending on the task
• Ability to lift to 75 lbs.
• Ability to climb and work on a ladder
• Ability to crouch, kneel and work in confined areas for extended periods
• Ability to use hand and power tools
Preferred:
• Certifications in the field of electronics or Computer Science, such as: Cisco Certification, A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, HP Certification, Lexmark Certification
• 3+ years of PC/Technical support experience
• Basic understanding of Active Directory
• Experience using problem reporting and ticketing systems
• Understanding of the Publix retail environment
