Job description

Residential Remodeling Sales Consultant

Kaminskiy Design & Remodeling
Location: San Diego, California
Position: Full-time, commission-based
Recoverable Draw: $25 per hour, equivalent to $1,000 per week based on a 40-hour workweek
Earning Potential: Well into six figures

Help San Diego Homeowners Take the First Step Toward a Better Home

Kaminskiy Design & Remodeling is an award-winning, full-service design-build company serving San Diego homeowners since 2005. We specialize in thoughtful, high-quality residential remodeling, including kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home renovations, additions, and accessory dwelling units.

We are looking for a confident, motivated Residential Remodeling Sales Consultant who knows how to build trust, uncover what a homeowner truly needs, and guide qualified clients toward the right remodeling solution.

This is a consultative sales position for someone who is comfortable meeting with homeowners, discussing significant remodeling investments, presenting the value of a professional design-build process, and asking for the sale.

About the Position

As a Residential Remodeling Sales Consultant, you will often be the first Kaminskiy team member a homeowner meets in person. You will listen to their goals, evaluate their priorities, discuss budget and feasibility, explain our process, and help them understand what it will take to bring their vision to life.

The right person combines strong sales instincts with warmth, professionalism, design awareness, and enough remodeling or construction knowledge to have credible conversations with homeowners.

You must be comfortable asking direct questions, discussing substantial project investments, maintaining consistent follow-up, and taking ownership of your sales results.

Compensation and Earning Potential

This is a commission-based position supported by a recoverable draw of $25 per hour, equivalent to approximately $1,000 per week based on a 40-hour workweek.

Commission earnings are generated through design retainers and construction contracts. New consultants are expected to build their pipeline during the initial ramp-up period and begin earning commissions above the draw within approximately six months.

The position offers established earning potential well into the six-figure range for a successful consultant. Actual earnings depend on sales performance, project value, profitability, and the time required for projects to move through the sales and construction process.

The complete commission structure will be reviewed with qualified candidates during the interview process and documented in the written compensation agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-home consultations with prospective remodeling clients

  • Build trust quickly and create a professional, welcoming client experience

  • Help homeowners clarify their goals, priorities, concerns, budget, and desired timeline

  • Ask thoughtful questions to uncover both practical needs and the emotional reasons behind the project

  • Explain the benefits of Kaminskiy’s design-build process clearly and confidently

  • Help clients recognize possibilities for improving the function, comfort, and value of their homes

  • Discuss preliminary project feasibility and identify questions requiring additional technical review

  • Present the design retainer and confidently guide qualified homeowners toward the next step

  • Maintain consistent, thoughtful follow-up with prospective clients

  • Manage an active pipeline and take ownership of opportunities from consultation through contract

  • Keep accurate and timely notes in the company CRM

  • Collaborate closely with the design, estimating, and production teams

  • Maintain strong client relationships throughout the remodeling journey

  • Participate in sales meetings, company training, design seminars, open houses, and occasional community events

  • Consistently work toward consultation, conversion, sales, and profitability goals

What We Are Looking For

  • A proven record of consultative sales success

  • Experience selling remodeling, design-build, residential construction, interior design, architecture, custom homes, or another high-value service

  • A confident and professional presence in clients’ homes

  • Strong relationship-building and presentation skills

  • The ability to discuss budgets and ask for financial commitments comfortably

  • Excellent listening, communication, organization, and follow-through

  • A genuine interest in residential design and improving how people live in their homes

  • Working knowledge of remodeling or residential construction

  • The ability to recognize potential feasibility concerns and ask the right questions

  • Self-motivation, accountability, persistence, and a strong desire to improve sales performance

  • Comfort working with a longer, relationship-based sales cycle

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, estimators, project managers, and company leadership

  • A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout San Diego County

A formal design degree is not required. Practical remodeling, construction, design, or related industry experience is highly valued.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Design Consultant at Kaminskiy:

  • Creates an exceptional first impression

  • Makes homeowners feel heard, understood, and cared for

  • Qualifies opportunities thoughtfully and honestly

  • Communicates the value of professional design and planning

  • Follows up consistently without making clients feel pressured

  • Builds and maintains a healthy pipeline of qualified remodeling opportunities

  • Converts consultations into design retainers and construction contracts

  • Meets or exceeds sales and profitability goals

  • Develops commission earnings that exceed the recoverable draw

  • Represents the Kaminskiy name with professionalism and integrity

Why Join Kaminskiy?

  • Represent an established and respected San Diego remodeling company

  • Work with homeowners planning meaningful, high-value projects

  • Receive support from an experienced design, estimating, and production team
