ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Fiber Splicer Lead is responsible for leading a team of fiber splicers in installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables. This role requires extensive knowledge of fiber splicing techniques, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to ensuring high-quality work. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in fiber optics and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Lead and supervise a team of fiber splicers in the field, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to high standards.
  • Perform and oversee the splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Conduct site surveys and plan fiber splicing activities based on project requirements and timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of splicing activities, including as-built documentation and test results.
  • Manage splicing materials and equipment inventory, ensuring availability for upcoming projects.
  • Respond to emergency repair requests and outages, including after-hours work as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficiency with fiber optic splicing and testing equipment, including OTDRs, fusion splicers, and power meters.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic network architecture and splicing techniques.
  • Understanding of fiber indexing technology.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to various job sites as required.
