North Sky Communications is seeking an experienced and dedicated Fiber Splicing Supervisor to oversee operations for our Splicing team. Operating out of our Auburn yard, this individual will lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3-4 in-house fiber splicing technicians, as well as supplemental subcontractors based on workload demands. The ideal candidate is a technical expert in fiber optics who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to handle the operational responsibilities of a critical regional maintenance contract.
This position will have you traveling around the Puget Sound area of WA.

What you'll do
  • Team Leadership & Management: Supervise, train, and schedule a dedicated team of 3-4 in-house splicing technicians. Coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure seamless coverage and execution of project workloads.
  • Contract Execution: Oversee the daily deliverables and emergency response requirements for maintenance contracts across the Puget Sound territory.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide hands-on expertise and guidance in high-level troubleshooting, fusion splicing, and optical network architecture.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all testing, documentation, and closeout packages-including OTDR traces and power meter readings-meet stringent company and client specifications.
  • On-Call Availability: Manage and participate in an after-hours and weekend on-call rotation to respond promptly to network outages and emergency maintenance calls.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to company safety policies, OSHA standards, and proper roadway work zone setups.

What you'll need
  • Technical Expertise: Proven, deep proficiency in fiber optic fusion splicing, technical troubleshooting, and the expert utilization of OTDRs and power meters.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a supervisory or lead technician role within the telecommunications or fiber utility sector.
  • Territory Knowledge: Familiarity with the Puget Sound geography and willingness to travel throughout the designated service area.
  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Must be flexible and available for night, weekend, and emergency on-call shifts as necessitated by the maintenance contract.
  • Valid Driver's License: A clean driving record is required to operate company fleet vehicles.

PHYSICAL
This field-based role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment, climb ladders, and work comfortably in confined spaces (like utility vaults) or at heights (using bucket trucks). Candidates must have excellent manual dexterity and color vision to handle delicate fiber strands, the physical stamina to stand for extended periods on uneven terrain, and the resilience to work outdoors in all weather conditions during emergency night or weekend call-outs.
The wage range for Supervisor Fiber Splicing is $90,000.00 - $105,000.00
