Job description

Chariton Valley is looking for a full-time Fiber Field Technician to join our team. Following our mission, Keeping You Connected, Chariton Valley has provided state-of-the-art communication solutions to businesses and residents in Northeast Missouri for 70 years.

Job responsibilities include responding to and prioritizing utility locate requests, accurately locating underground fiber facilities, and supporting the maintenance and reliability of our outside plant infrastructure. The Fiber Field Technician will utilize fiber maps, locating equipment, and established procedures to complete locate requests safely and efficiently while helping protect Chariton Valley's network assets. The role requires independent decision-making, troubleshooting locating challenges, and maintaining a strong commitment to safety in a variety of field environments. The working schedule may vary, including evenings and weekends, as needed and includes an on-call rotation.

We are looking for an individual with a high school diploma or GED, a valid Missouri Class E driver's license, strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to read and interpret fiber maps. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, performing physically demanding tasks, operating field equipment, and lifting up to 100 pounds as needed. Experience in telecommunications, utility locating, construction, or fiber network operations is beneficial but not required. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who can work independently, collaborate effectively with team members, and contribute to the ongoing reliability and protection of Chariton Valley's fiber infrastructure. Vision requirements include the ability to distinguish color, see close up, see far away, have depth perception, and peripheral vision.
