Job Summary
  • Splicing large & small count Fiber Cables Mid Sheath Cuts.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Utilize proper techniques to splice fiber optic cable.
  • Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables
  • Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR.
  • Strong communication skills are required between the splicer and tech ops manager to address problems as soon as possible.
  • Proper record keeping and be able to review cable records as necessary.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and practice of safety regulations within OSHA, NESC, NEC, and other construction-related guidelines.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicle to a high standard.
  • Work indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Iterate to the project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity, both verbal and written.
  • Coordinate with tech ops managers to verify and perform work as directed.
  • Night work as needed for things like node splits.
  • Able to be on call for emergencies involving damaged cables.
  • Must know ribbon fiber.
  • Must know fiber to the home.

Tasks Required by a Fiber Splicer

  • Mechanical- Knowledge of optical splicing equipment like a cleaver, splicer, and bucket truck
