Join us for an exciting new Japanese restaurant, located right by Little Island, and be a key player in crafting unforgettable culinary experiences for our guests.


Position Summary:

The Sushi Cook supports sushi bar operations through skilled preparation, knife work, and mise en place. This role works closely under the guidance of the Sushi Chef to deliver premium-quality sushi offerings while maintaining the precision and pace that defines MIRU's service standard.


Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare fish, vegetables, and other ingredients according to exact specifications.

  • Assist in the assembly of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi under supervision.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station throughout service.

  • Rotate stock and ensure all items are properly labeled and stored.

  • Follow all food safety protocols and assist with daily cleaning and prep checklists.

  • Continuously develop knowledge of ingredients, knife skills, and techniques.

Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in a sushi or Japanese-style kitchen.

  • Strong knife skills with interest in advancing technique and presentation.

  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to take direction well.

  • Understanding of kitchen hygiene, safety, and prep procedures.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
