Description

Saz's Catering is seeking experienced Prep/Production Cooks to join our culinary team. This versatile role will prepare food in our production kitchen for catering events and assist on-site at events. Reporting to our culinary leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering products of the highest quality in terms of freshness, taste, and consistency. On-the-job training will be provided to ensure you're familiar with our specific menus and procedures. This role is variable part-time.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food items using batch, a la minute, and line cooking techniques
  • Set up mobile kitchens for catering events
  • Carve food to order at events when required
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of kitchen areas
  • Ensure appropriate stocking, rotation, and labeling of food products
  • Follow all standardized recipes with precision
  • Notify the Chef of any shortages or discrepancies in products or ingredients

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques including knife skills and standard cuts
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment (steamer, fryer, kettle, convection/combi ovens, griddle)
  • Understanding of herbs, spices, and various flavoring ingredients
  • Ability to roast, broil, braise, saute, fry, and grill (including breakfast items)
  • Flexibility to rotate between different stations as needed
  • Prior experience in production, mobile, or banquet kitchen preferred


Physical Requirements:

  • Squat, kneel, climb ladders or step stools as needed
  • Use industrial cleaning chemicals
  • Grip objects and tools (including wet or slippery items); utilize fine motor skills
  • Stand or sit up to 12 hours at a time
  • Lift up to 50 lbs to chest level and up to 30 lbs overhead
