What is a LIMS Business Analyst?

A LIMS Business Analyst is a professional who specializes in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). They work as a bridge between laboratory staff, IT teams, and business stakeholders to analyze requirements, design solutions, and ensure the successful implementation and optimization of LIMS software. Their responsibilities often include gathering user needs, documenting workflows, configuring LIMS, and supporting training and troubleshooting efforts. The goal of a LIMS Business Analyst is to improve laboratory efficiency and data integrity by aligning technology solutions with business processes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a LIMS Business Analyst?

They gather requirements from lab staff, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure that the implemented Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) meets both operational and compliance needs. Regular meetings, process mapping sessions, and user acceptance testing are common collaborative activities.
