Job description

JOB TITLE: Resident Substitute Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Student Support
REPORTS TO: School Resource Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt (Teacher exemption)
This full-time position works all teacher days: student days and training/inservice days.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a born-again Christian.
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school's Statement of Faith
  • Must have an understanding of, and commitment to Lighthouse Christian School educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject and experience working with and supervising children.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and in an internet/online environment; ability to quickly learn and use different software applications.
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete assigned responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Substitute
  • Classroom management
  • Sustains a physical classroom environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
  • Facilitates positive, productive interactions in the classroom
  • Maintains proper control of classroom
  • Instruction
  • Follows lesson plans outlined by teacher
  • Instills a biblical worldview in students
  • Creates opportunities for student participation and active learning
  • Professional
  • Provides classroom teacher notes on student progress, performance, and conduct
  • Contributes to the general well-being and improvement of the school
  • Completes other tasks assigned by administration
  • Attends required meetings, devotions and in-services

Recess Monitor
  • Supervise students during the assigned recess
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt an effective and calm course of action
  • Facilitates positive, productive interactions during recess including conflict-resolution
  • Ability to properly administer first aid if necessary
  • Maintain recess equipment
  • Reports discipline issues to admin in a timely and clear manner

Office Assistant
  • Serves as a front desk receptionist to the main office
  • Provides a friendly environment for parents, students, and visitors
  • Communicates with parents, students, and visitors, employing discretion and independent judgment, directing individuals to the correct person, and efficiently resolving their concerns
