Job description

CHAOS Industries is redefining modern defense with a multi-product portfolio that gives the ultimate advantage-domain dominance. The company's products are powered by Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN), empowering warfighters, commercial air operators, and border protection teams to act faster, adapt rapidly, and stay ahead of evolving threats.ย

CHAOS Industries was founded in 2022 and has raised a total of $1 billion in funding from leading investors, including 8VC, Accel, and Valor Equity Partners. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, and London. For more information, please visit www.chaosinc.com.

Team Overview:ย

Mission Engineering at CHAOS turns threat and CONEMP-informed simulation output into product engineering and customer requirement guidance. We run large-scale modeling and simulation campaigns across all warfighting domains and the full kill chain, against named threats, in operationally relevant scenarios, at the speed engineering, operational, and customer teams actually need. Every CHAOS engineering trade, pursuit, and customer engagement is anchored in rigorous, physics-based, statistically valid analysis founded on threat and blue-force concepts of operation, and we're scaling the function to meet that bar across a growing product portfolio.ย

Role Overview:

As a U.S. Army Business Development Lead for Air Defense and Counter-UAS, you will play a pivotal role inย identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities through effective market analysis, strategic planning,ย customer engagement, requirements shaping, and formal industry response to Army solicitations. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough market research toย identifyย potential business opportunities and trends. Includes continuous opportunity monitoring using open-source (e.g., Sam.gov) and/or subscription services.ย
  • Perform regular research to understand emerging programs and opportunities and to learn about industry-specific subject matter.ย
  • Conduct competitive analysis to gain insights into market dynamics and competitor landscape, which contributes to opportunity qualification, teaming determination, and narrative development.ย
  • Engage the acquisitions leaders, requirement generators, and end users/operators of air defense and C-UAS programsย in order toย understand their needs, inform them of CHAOS capabilities, and translate their needs to mission and product engineering.ย
  • Qualify business opportunities and evaluate attractiveness and probability of win.ย
  • Partner withย the capture teamย to develop comprehensive capture plans at the strategic (pipeline-wide) and tactical (opportunity-specific) levels that align with business priorities and growth targets.ย
  • Develop strategic messaging ("win themes") for both customer engagements and proposals.ย
  • Plan and leadย customer meetings, industry days, conferences.ย

Product Roadmap Prioritizationย

  • Translate customer priorities into capability needs that inform engineering priorities.ย
  • Participate in engineering planning sessions to ensure product development efforts are aligned to customer needs.ย

Customer Engagementย

  • Serve as the U.S. Army lead on planning and executing engagements that support capturing Air Defense and C-UAS business.ย

Proposal and Content Developmentย

  • Serve as the U.S. Army lead on proposals, market research, white papers, and otherย responseย content that supports capturingย Air Defense and C-UASย business.ย
  • Translate U.S. Army priorities into clear, concise, and compellingย responseย narratives that directly address customer needs.ย

Physical Location:ย

  • There are two options for work location for this role:ย Work full-time onsite out of our Washington D.C. office; orย Workย full time off-site (remote, work from home) in Huntsville, AL.ย
  • Light (<20%) travelย requiredย for trips to Los Angeles HQ and/orย customerย strategic meetings/events.ย

Minimumย Requirements:ย

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field, ideally with an engineering backgroundย ย
  • +5-years' experience working directly for the U.S. Armyย as anย acquisitionsย professional in a Program Executive Office (or equivalent R&D program); orย
  • +5ย years experienceย at a high growth defenseย tech company working U.S. Army business development for air defense and CUAS programsย
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. Government procurement process, of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), of non-traditional acquisition pathways, and of the full capture lifecycle.ย
  • Significant experienceย supporting and writing Federal proposals and market research, withย demonstratedย success capturing multi-million-dollar awards.ย
  • Discerning judgment in strategic thinking, with strong risk assessment skills.ย
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing flag/general officer or SES-level audiences.ย
  • Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearanceย
