This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Power Generation Package Manager to join our Power & Energy Team. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power Generation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
A Power Generation Package Manager oversees the full lifecycle-design, procurement, installation, and commissioning-of specific, large-scale components (e.g., turbines, electrical systems, civil works) for power projects. They ensure technical compliance, budget control, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role demands high-level scheduling, vendor management, and risk mitigation. Provides high level technical project leadership, and guidance with managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned projects in accordance with WSP's core values, and the level of project services agreed upon in the contract by WSP and the clients.
Your Impact
  • Serve as Package Manager for defined scopes within larger programs, with full accountability for delivery of assigned packages, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
  • Coordinate and integrate multi-discipline teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless execution and alignment with overall program objectives.
  • Develop and manage detailed package execution plans, including scope definition, deliverable tracking, interface management, and resource allocation.
  • Lead package-level schedule development and reporting, ensuring alignment with master project/program schedules and identifying potential impacts or conflicts.
  • Manage package budgets and cost controls, including forecasting, earned value tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate risks and opportunities specific to assigned packages, ensuring proactive escalation and resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate procurement activities for assigned packages, including scoping, supplier selection support, and performance oversight.
  • Oversee subcontractor and vendor performance at the package level, ensuring compliance with contractual, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Ensure effective interface management between packages and workstreams, resolving cross-functional dependencies and conflicts.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Project/Program Manager and key stakeholders, providing regular updates on package status, risks, and performance metrics.
  • Support change management processes, including evaluation of scope changes, cost/schedule impacts, and implementation of approved changes within assigned packages.
  • Develop the work breakdown structure tasks and estimated costs.
  • Establish and actively drive the appropriate levels of technical review required for the project, selecting appropriately qualified staff to perform the required reviews, and adherence to the QA/QC plan, as applicable.
  • Ensure and maintain a record of each review and the disposition of review comments and all correspondence leaving the project.
  • Participate in the technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentation, and meetings.
  • Conduct and facilitate project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular communications with the client including reporting on monthly status.
  • Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers, identifying any emergent issues with scope, risk, and/or budget.
  • Work with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements as appropriate.
  • Complete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in a package/project management role within our industry.
  • Proficient understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C or EPC industry and strong background and experience in package/project management.
  • Highly proficient analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
  • Highly proficient with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of package/project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Essential project management certification required (e.g., PMP, CAP-M)
  • Master's Degree

Compensation:
Expected Salary: $163,800 - $278,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
