Job description

Job Title: Claims Examiner
Location: Full time in-office, Richmond, VA 23233
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Claims Examiner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and settling commercial liability claims. The candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of commercial general liability claims handling experience which would include reviewing and analyzing coverage, liability and damages. Strong letter writing skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze coverage, liability and damages
  • Write both coverage and liability position letters
  • Conduct interviews with claimants, witnesses, and other parties involved in the claim.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys
  • Maintain accurate notes, records and files
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including letter writing ability.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial liability insurance policies, coverage analysis, and claims handling procedures.
  • Openness to learning and handling other lines of business.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation:
At the time of posting, the expected base salary range for this role is $65,000-$85,000 annually. Additionally, this position is eligible for participation in our annual bonus program. Actual compensation will be determined by many factors, including but not limited to, location, education, certifications, qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, business need, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.
