Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform diversified tasks to maintain the New Life Church facilities, both on and off campus, by providing commercial-grade services in the following areas: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC.
  • Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment as well as new construction/installation.
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, check fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repair or replaces broken parts.
  • Have a general awareness and knowledge of fire/security systems & procedures.
  • Monitor lighting (including parking lot), heating and air conditioning to ensure comfort and safety of our guests/staff.
  • Perform snow removal including, but not limited to, shoveling; operating plow, snow blower, tractor and skid loader/front end loader; and spreading ice melt-requires exposure to inclement weather for extended periods of time.
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency service as needed, including, but not limited to, fire/security alarms, snow removal, and maintenance emergencies.
  • Lead by verbal and physical example - supporting Team Leadership through the daily development of the team and its members.
  • Support painting and beautification projects
  • Run general errands as requested.
  • Assist with traffic control in parking lot as requested.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and additional meetings when requested.
  • Cooperate with the Maintenance Care Administrator by performing any other duties when asked to do so.
  • Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment and complete the work necessary to fully serve and support the ministries of New Life Church.
  • Advance the Kingdom of God by representing Christ at all times in thought, action and speech.
  • Demonstrate ongoing financial support of the ministries of New Life Church
  • Manage and respond to calls and emails as needed.
  • Assist the department in coordinating various tasks and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor about departmental issues.
  • Assist supervisor with special projects, events, and diverse tasks in support of the department.
  • Attend department meetings, regular all-staff meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Utilize a thorough understanding of New Life Church employee policies and procedures.
  • Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment.
  • Cooperate with leadership by performing any other duties when asked to do so.

NOTE: Job duties may be performed in an office environment, classroom, large multi-purpose room, kitchen, storage room or outdoors in any season. The use of ladders, carts, dollies and hand-trucks may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Basic principles and techniques of plumbing, wood finishing, painting, electricity, and carpentry
  • Basic welding practices and techniques.
  • Operational characteristics of mechanical equipment, tools, and supplies used in the area of work assigned.
  • Knowledgeable of occupational hazards and standard safety practices necessary in the area of work assigned.
  • Operate pallet jack, forklift, scissorlift, etc, as well as snow removal equipment: plow, quad, skid loader, front end loader

Skills:

  • Repair plumbing, machinery, and electrical circuitry.
  • Computer skills, including familiarity and experience with a variety of software applications, such as: the MS Office suite of applications - Word, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with email, such as MS Outlook.
  • Effective organizational, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Organizational and office skills.

Abilities:

  • Identify problems and implement solutions.
  • Ability to read and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to handle constantly changing priorities and demands and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical functions.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated. Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Education and Experience

Education:Full-time positions -- High School Diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred

Experience:Minimum 2 years experience in Facilities Maintenance or the equivalent

  • Gross Body Equilibrium - The ability to keep or regain your body balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.

Physical Demands:

  • Moderate to considerable physical activity; requires handling of objects up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, climbing ladders, bending, and squatting, crawling in tight spaces, and use of protective equipment.
  • Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
