General Description/Primary Purpose
The Library Services Coordinator reports to the Access Services Manager and is responsible for supporting and coordinating overall Access Services operations, including serving as coordinator during assigned shifts, with regular weekend responsibilities. Responsible for the overall operation of the library during assigned shifts, including coordinating building security, overseeing the library stack maintenance, and providing public service assistance. Assists UNF faculty, staff, students, and community members with their library accounts, manages Information Desk services during specific operating hours.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Plans and maintains book inventory control.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and the availability of the full range of departmental services (circulation, media/reserves, equipment, audiovisual equipment, Interlibrary Loan, and Special Borrowers); and actively participates in all units of the department, as required, to provide continuous, essential library services to the UNF Library community.
  • Interacts with faculty, staff, students, and the greater Jacksonville community to solve library user issues.
  • Assists in the preparation and delivery of training programs.
  • Ensures operational readiness of library facilities during weekends, including coordination with Facilities, University Police Department, and contracted services to address building access, safety, environmental controls, and urgent maintenance issues.
  • Serves as a coordinator for library services during weekend shifts.
  • Takes the lead on processing A/V equipment checkouts. Works collaboratively with university staff to ensure program success.
  • Interpret departmental policies for area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for problem-solving, active and generous listening, and exercising good judgment are routine requirements.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the other Library Services Coordinators and the Access Services Manager, building security with Library Administration, UNF's Crisis Management Team, and University Police Department.
  • Interprets library-related policies and procedures, oversees the library stack maintenance, is responsible for the library during his/her shift.
  • Supervises departmental functions, staff, and student assistant positions.
  • Ensures adequate staffing when the Access Services Manager is not in the building.
  • Assists the Access Services Manager with new hires, training, and evaluates departmental student assistant positions, as well as schedules for student assistants, and volunteers, to ensure adequate staffing during weekend hours.
  • Assists the Access Services Manager in administering the budget for student assistant/OPS employees.
  • Reports to the Access Services Manager on the daily operations of that department.
  • Handles UNF faculty staff, and student library accounts, as well as community library users accounts and manages information desk services during specific operating hours to ensure appropriate staffing and the availability of the full range of departmental services (circulation, media/reserves, interlibrary loan, equipment, audiovisual equipment, and special borrower cards).
  • Participates in all units of the department, as required, to provide continuous, essential library services to the UNF Library community.
  • Functions as departmental manager when the Access Services Manager is not in the building.
  • Provides public service assistance. Research and responds to inquiries from external community, UNF faculty and staff, and students.
  • Answers general Library policy and procedure questions, referring to appropriate library staff or other UNF departments and offices.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with UNF faculty, staff, students, and community users.

Marginal Functions:
  • Participates in professional development to stay up to date on technologies and standards necessary to perform job duties.
  • Participates in library committees and teams related to facilities and access services as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the library's mission and goals.
  • During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

Required Qualifications
Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
Position working schedule:
Sunday through Wednesday 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.
Saturday 9:30 am to 6:30 pm
