Job Description
This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to establish an applicant pool. As vacancies occur, they are filled from the pool.
The Library Evening Lead will have an essential role in the Learning Resources and Support mission to provide library access to WNC students and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse users, colleagues, and faculty.
  • Effective literacy, communication.
  • Customer service focus with an ability to de-escalate difficult situations.
  • Ability to work without supervision and engage in independent decision making that supports department priorities.
  • Strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fluency in Spanish is a strength.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greets patrons as they enter the library and takes actions to ensure a positive and welcoming environment.
  • Ensures a safe and healthy environment in accordance with library policies and procedures.
  • Checks students into and out of the library. Assists patrons with basic circulation functions.
  • Issues library cards.
  • Answers phones.
  • Performs regular sweeps of the library to ensure a clean and tidy work environment (Study rooms, whiteboards, markers, supplies, furniture, library materials etc.).
  • Takes requests for inter-library loans.
  • Assists patrons in printing and making copies.
  • Handles cash accurately.
  • Follows security protocols, including closing.

  • Engages in independent decision making that supports department priorities.
  • Applies discretion in notifying security as appropriate to ensure a safe environment.
  • Uses discretion to provide timely updates to supervisor.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with students.
  • Ability to de-escalate potentially difficult situations using independent judgment.

  • Models appropriate behaviors that support the department vision.
  • Models behaviors that follow department and college policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute positively in a team environment.
