Job Title: Manufacturing Unit Leader (Medical Devices)
Location: Sumter, South Carolina, United States Industry: Medical Equipment / Devices Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 (Base)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Unit Leader will have overall ownership of production, processes, and people within the designated Manufacturing Unit. This role is responsible for delivering upon SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) targets, eliminating operational losses through continuous improvement excellence, and growing the capability of the production team. You will lead a product line, set goals, and drive accountability to achieve department objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic Leadership: Accountable for achievement of strategic, operational, and functional goals.
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop the manufacturing unit to empower results; conduct performance reviews and ensure active development plans for all associates.
  • Operational Excellence: Set 24-hour direction for the unit, manage budget and headcount levels, and facilitate lean manufacturing/excellence implementation.
  • Floor Presence: Spend more than 50% of the time on the production floor overseeing activities and displaying servant leadership.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Logistics to establish production schedules and monitor delivery performance versus schedule.
  • Quality & Safety: Ensure 100% compliance with quality systems, safety regulations, and local/federal procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: BA/BS Degree in Science, Industrial Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Manufacturing Experience: 5+ years in a highly automated manufacturing environment required (7+ years preferred).
  • Leadership: 3+ years of direct people management experience required (5+ years preferred).
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in Medical Device or highly regulated manufacturing is a strong plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of financial budgeting, product costs, waste triggers, and standard cost implementation.
  • Communication: Must be able to read, write, and converse fluently in English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This is a highly collaborative on-site role (minimum 4 days per week).
  • Compliance with facility safety protocols is mandatory, including the use of Steel Toe non-slip shoes.
  • Must be able to work in a high-speed, automated production environment.
