Library Assistants are support staff who help ensure the smooth operation of libraries. They assist patrons with finding materials, check books in and out, organize and shelve library items, and help maintain library records. Their duties often include answering basic questions, processing new materials, and supporting librarians in daily tasks. Library Assistants play an important role in making the library a welcoming and organized space for everyone.

What does a Library Assistant do?

Library assistants support the head librarian in operating the library and maintaining its materials. Other responsibilities include cataloging books, movies, audio resources, reference materials, slides, and microfilm. Library assistants inspect these items regularly for damage or missing pieces, especially while they are checking out resources to library patrons. As a library assistant, you must enjoy helping visitors locate materials, as well as providing technical assistance as needed. While a library assistant job does not require education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, job seekers pursuing a career as a librarian will need a master’s degree in library science or a related field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Library Assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Library Assistant, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent, with some roles preferring library science coursework or experience. The Marketing Director is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that strengthen Arbor Masters’ brand, increase customer awareness, support business growth, and promote the company’s culture. This position will oversee marketing campaigns, social media, digital presence, community involvement, promotional materials, and internal marketing initiatives while ensuring consistent branding across all Arbor Masters locations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the company’s website and online presence.
  • Assist with SEO, online advertising, Google Business Profiles, and other digital marketing initiatives.

Advertising & Lead Generation

  • Coordinate print, digital, radio, direct-mail, and other advertising campaigns.
  • Work with outside vendors, agencies, and media partners when needed.
  • Track advertising expenses and campaign performance.
  • Identify opportunities to increase qualified customer leads.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop promotions and marketing materials that support sales efforts.

Brand & Company Culture

  • Promote Arbor Masters’ family-owned history, values, culture, and commitment to quality.
  • Develop employee spotlight features, company announcements, recognition campaigns, and recruiting-related content.
  • Support recruiting efforts by creating compelling employment marketing materials and social media content.
  • Help showcase employee accomplishments, certifications, training, community involvement, and company milestones.

Community & Events

  • Coordinate company participation in community events, sponsorships, trade shows, and local activities.
  • Develop promotional materials and displays for events.
  • Build relationships with community organizations and business partners.
  • Help identify opportunities to increase Arbor Masters’ visibility within the communities we serve.

Internal Support

  • Work closely with HR, recruiting, sales, operations, and branch leadership.
  • Assist with internal communications, company announcements, and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Provide branches with approved marketing materials and resources.
  • Assist leadership with special projects and company-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of marketing experience preferred.
  • Experience managing social media and digital marketing platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop engaging content.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software preferred.
  • Experience with website management, SEO, Google Analytics, or digital advertising preferred.
