About Us
Founded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. In this setting, students receive individualized attention that only a small college with dedicated faculty and staff can provide.
Job Summary
This position provides customer service and administrative support for library operations and to the Director of Library Services.
Responsibilities
Provides basic research and computer support for students, faculty/staff, and the public; checks materials in and out.
Assists Director of Library Services/ Dean of Libraries with daily administrative tasks and operations including keeping track of and balancing the library budget.
Collects, sorts, and distributes mail, and processes newspapers.
Prepares and processes purchase requisitions, invoices and encumbrances; maintains related paperwork.
Orders and organizes office and library supplies; maintains paper levels for printers and photocopiers and replaces toner cartridges as needed.
Prepares correspondence and paperwork, including overdue letters and letters recognizing gifts & memorial books, and meeting minutes.
Tabulates and compiles results from ENGL 1101/1102, Library Orientation quizzes, and daily usage statistics, and other assessment statistics.
Produces and maintains library calendars and schedules.
Posts signage for classrooms and conference rooms when they are reserved.
Creates library marketing materials and displays, and promotes library events.
Sensitizes and shelves books; reads and organizes shelves.
Participates in New Student Orientation and library or other campus tabling events.
Assists with the organization and scheduling of events hosted in library.
This position may interview, hire, and supervise student assistants, including the creation of work schedules.
Participates in mandatory training offered by the University System of GA, Gordon State, and library.
Provides basic research support one evening per week.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year.
