Job description

Description
As Painter I, you will apply proper paint application to office products and office furniture by applying high-quality standards and partnering with other manufacturing cells, to ensure product meets internal and external customer and quality standards.
This full-time position reports directly to the designated Production Supervisor and is located at Safco's manufacturing plant in Milford, IA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up and operate the powder painting operation .
  • Spray powder coated paint following common industry practices .
  • Load and unload parts onto the powder paint line when not in the paint booth .
  • Measure parts for identification purposes and properly label them with identification tags .
  • Operate and maintain paint booth system and observe gauges and equipment operations to detect abnormalities .
  • Use inspection / measurement equipment to ensure work meets or exceed s quality standards.
  • Enter Work Order data required for labor reporting into the computer system .
  • Work in a manner that emphasizes safety of self and others. Follows all safety policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate dispensing and labeling of color lab paint samples .
  • Troubleshoot issues that may occur within the paint process .
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION , EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Strong attention to detail High school diploma or GED .
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques .
  • Must be able to distinguish colors since the job involves color inspection .
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide .
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate a computer and access programs, make transactions, and solve simple computer functions .
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills .
  • Strong attention to detail .
  • Must be able to successfully pass pulmonary function respiratory test .

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Prior experience and knowledge of powder paint and maintaining paint equipment .
  • Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferred .

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The starting pay rate for this position is $20 .50 per hour (if applicable) plus hourly shift differential pay . The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
