With deep expertise in fixed income, equity, and alternative strategies, LMI invests more than $100B of long-term capital globally, and has a team of nearly 300 investment, finance, and operations professionals located in Boston, MA, and New York, NY. LMI has a clear purpose: to drive economic growth, build enduring businesses side-by-side with our partners, and generate superior risk-adjusted returns that secure Liberty’s promises.

LMI offers the best of both worlds — the look and feel of a boutique investment firm with the reputation and financial strength of a global leader. As the investment firm of a mutual with long-term capital, LMI has a single client mandate. This gives us the freedom to focus on what we do best.

Our portfolio spans a broad spectrum of public and private investments, and we are committed to expanding our capabilities and our toolkit in support of our mission. We invest across diverse asset classes, financial structures, and industries, including real estate, digital infrastructure, healthcare, renewable energy, and technology—with the aim of creating value and powering innovation. We pride ourselves on our extensive network of mutually beneficial partnerships, and we use our substantial influence, capital, and energy to drive towards a better future.

The Position:

  • We are seeking a strategic Data Product Owner to lead the development and delivery of integrated data products that fuel the LMI’s investment process and businesses. This role sits at the intersection of investment teams, product and technology to ensure stakeholders have access to high quality and actionable data across Liberty’s investment portfolio.
  • The Data Product Owner translates business requirements and solutions into a product roadmap and owns the outcomes and value creation for both the business and technical workstreams.
  • In an agile working environment, the Data Product Owner leads a dedicated scrum team in story and backlog creation and oversees the implementation of capabilities and features critical for use in the investment lifecycle and supporting functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for integrating external market data into LMI’s data warehouse and core data products
  • Develop and manage the product backlog, ensuring clear prioritization aligned with business value, technical dependencies, and stakeholder needs.
  • Partner closely with Data Engineering chapter to design and deliver scalable, well-governed, and high-quality data solutions
  • Act as the voice of the customer (investment teams, operations, risk, and compliance) to ensure data is curated and accessible to meet end-user needs.
  • Drive incremental delivery using Agile methodologies, facilitating sprint planning, review, and refinement activities.
  • Ensure that data products adhere to LMI’s standards for data governance, lineage, accessibility, and quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Finance, or Business Administration (advanced degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience working as a Product Owner, Data Product Manager or Data Strategist role within financial services, preferably investment management
  • Working knowledge of investment data domains, such as security reference data, company reference data, benchmarks, positions, and transactions
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts - master data management, metadata, lineage, and data quality frameworks
  • Exposure to order management systems, accounting book of record, or market data vendor platforms
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with a strong ability to lead, prioritize, and manage multiple workstreams.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills; able to articulate technical concepts in business terms
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with a focus on driving business value through data
