Labor and Delivery Room Registered Nurse (RN) – RWJBarnabas Health

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:  

  • The L&D Nursing team works cooperatively with the multidisciplinary care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the perioperative setting and participates in shared clinical decision-making, inspirational leadership, supportive colleagues, and much more,
  • Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
  • Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
  • Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
  • Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
  • Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification, ACLS Certification, and NRP Certification. A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required or actively enrolled in a BSN program with an expected completion date. Minimum (2) two years of current or recent Labor and Delivery Room experience as an RN in an acute care setting. Comfortable with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. Must be able to work scheduled as needed with a minimum requirement This position offers a per diem day schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. of 2-3 shifts per month and (1) weekend shift, you will also need to work 1 winter and 1 summer holiday allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
