Our mission is to elevate our disadvantaged youth by offering them a second chance through mentorship and reclamation.

Established in Tampa, Florida, and now expanding in Dallas, Texas, Brakin Out Inc. specializes in mentorship programs addressing lack of self-esteem, LGBT+ coming out, relationships, peer-to-peer support, family or self-hurt issues, and bullying.

Brakin Out Inc. is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will be at the forefront of guiding the strategic direction of our organization, ensuring effective governance, and championing our mission to provide second chances and mentorship to at-risk youth. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and impactful nonprofit, making a lasting difference in the lives of disadvantaged young people.

We are expanding our board of directors and are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to lead our LGBTQ+ Committee as the Board Chair.

Job Description

As the LGBTQ+ Committee Board Chair, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for the committee, ensuring that the needs and voices of LGBTQ+ youth are effectively represented and supported within our programs and initiatives. This is a volunteer position with an estimated commitment of 10 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings and occasional events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:ย Lead the LGBTQ+ Committee, setting agendas, facilitating meetings, and guiding the committee's work.
  • Strategic Planning:ย Develop and implement strategies to support and empower LGBTQ+ youth within Brakin Out Inc.'s programs.
  • Advocacy:ย Advocate for the needs and rights of LGBTQ+ youth within the organization and the broader community.
  • Program Development:ย Collaborate with staff and volunteers to design and implement programs and initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Community Engagement:ย Build and maintain relationships with LGBTQ+ organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and resource sharing.
  • Fundraising Support:ย Assist in fundraising efforts, including identifying potential funding sources and supporting grant applications.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in leadership roles within LGBTQ+ organizations or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and needs of LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in strategic planning, program development, and advocacy.
