Position Summary:ย 

MedInsight isย seekingย an experienced and dynamicย Associate General Counselย to lead our legal and compliance team and oversee MedInsight contractual affairs. Thisย hands-onย role willย provideย strategic legal advice, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements,ย manage the contracting process, and provide legal support to new and existing business initiatives.ย ย We are looking forย a candidateย with proven experience at theย intersection ofย healthcare and technology, with specializedย knowledgeย inย healthcareย dataย privacy,ย clinical data acquisitionย and interoperability, consumer andย data protection, AI andย emergingย technology governance,ย andย data licensing andย commercialization agreements.ย ย The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, a high degree of comfort advising leadership teams, and a demonstrated ability to deliver solutions-oriented legal strategies, along with proven negotiation skills and experience managing complex contracts.ย 

This role reports to MedInsight's Chief Operating Officer and works in close coordination with Milliman's Corporate Legal team, which provides support across client and vendor contracting, litigation, M&A, and firm-wide policy matters.ย 

What youโ€™ll do:

  • Provideย expert legal advice to executive leadership and senior management on legal matters including HIPAA,ย TEFCA,ย privacy,ย intellectual property,ย and other relevant lawย 
  • Develop and implement legal and regulatory strategies to support existing and new business initiatives and product offeringsย 
  • Negotiate, draft, and manage contracts with clients, vendors, and partners, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with relevant obligationsย 
  • Advice on healthcare data acquisition, licensing, commercialization, interoperability, and strategic partnerships involving data assets.ย 
  • Overseeย licenseย contractย templates andย approvalย workflowsย ย 
  • Establish, manage, andย maintainย outside counsel relationships, as necessaryย 
  • Consultย frequentlyย with Millimanโ€™s Global Corporate Services team(s) to ensure legal and regulatory alignmentย 
  • Collaborate with and counsel various internal departments (Product, IT Security, Sales and Account Management, and Operations) to supportย MedInsightย needsย 
  • Oversee MedInsight policies and processes for client,ย vendorย and partner contracts, ensuring continuous process optimization andย appropriate day-to-dayย management by business operations managers.ย ย ย 
  • Define annualย objectivesย and goals for MedInsight legal and regulatory compliance, set KPIs,ย monitorย performance and adapt plans agilely to achieveย high-performanceย outcomesย 
  • Special legally relevant projects, as assignedย 

This is an individual contributor position with a high degree of expected influence and indirect leadership across MedInsight teams.ย ย As required in the future, this position may assume supervision responsibility for 1-3 junior staff.ย ย 

What we need:

  • Member of the State Bar in good standingย 
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior in-house legal role in healthcare, with preferred experience in healthcare technology or data commercializationย ย 
  • In-depth knowledge of legal areas includingย healthcare data privacy, clinical data acquisition and interoperability, consumer and data protection, AI and emerging technology governance, and data licensing and commercialization agreements.ย ย ย 
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong relationships across executives, internal partners, and external stakeholders.ย 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting SaaS businesses.ย 
  • Experience negotiating enterprise technology agreements.ย 
  • Experience with healthcare analytics, payer, provider, or life sciences organizations.ย 
  • Experience advising on TEFCA, interoperability, and healthcare data exchange frameworks.ย 
  • Experience supporting healthcare data acquisition, licensing, commercialization, or strategic data partnerships.ย

This role can be remote within the U.S. The expected application deadline for this job is August 30, 2026.

Compensation

The salary range is $181,400 - $354,660. For candidatesย residingย in:ย 

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia, the salary range is $208,610 - $354,660.ย ย 
  • All other locations the salary range is $181,400 - $308,400.ย 

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
