We are seeking an experienced Motion Writer to join our Litigation team on an urgent basis. This role is focused on drafting high-quality, persuasive legal motions, briefs, and memoranda in complex litigation matters.The ideal candidate is a highly skilled legal writer with strong motion practice experience, capable of translating complex legal and factual issues into clear, compelling arguments. You will work closely with attorneys to support case strategy through well-researched and strategically crafted court filings
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, edit, and finalize legal motions, briefs, and memoranda of law across various litigation matters
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to support case strategy
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys to develop persuasive, strategy-aligned written submissions
  • Review and analyze case records, discovery, deposition transcripts, and evidence
  • Prepare dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment
  • Ensure all filings comply with court rules, procedural requirements, and strict deadlines
  • Revise and refine legal documents based on attorney feedback in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain organized documentation of research, drafts, and filings

Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active U.S. bar admission required
  • 3-7+ years of experience in litigation with a strong focus on motion drafting and legal writing
  • Proven track record drafting motions, briefs, and memoranda in complex cases
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of litigation procedures and motion practice
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in a law firm or high-volume litigation environment
  • Strong background drafting dispositive motions (motions to dismiss, summary judgment, etc.)
  • Experience supporting complex or high-stakes litigation matters
  • Familiarity with New York state and/or federal court procedures
