POSITION: Legal Recruiting Assistant (Global Law Firm)

LOCATION: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Overview for Legal Recruiting Assistant:

Join a highly respected Am Law firm as a Legal Recruiting Assistant supporting the Legal Recruiting team and Hiring Partners across attorney recruiting and summer associate programs. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented professional to play a key role in coordinating the full recruiting lifecycle, from candidate applications and law school interview programs through callbacks, recruiting events, onboarding, and summer associate activities. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-touch environment while handling confidential information with discretion.


Responsibilities for Legal Recruiting Assistant:

  • Support the full lifecycle of attorney and law student recruiting, including processing applications, maintaining applicant tracking systems, managing correspondence, and coordinating recruiting logistics
  • Coordinate law school interview programs, job postings, recruiting calendars, interview schedules, candidate selections, interview materials, callback meetings, and post-interview communications
  • Maintain accurate candidate, law school, and recruiting records, including electronic files, recruiting statistics, outcome forms, surveys, and reporting
  • Coordinate callback and return visit logistics, including scheduling interviews, arranging candidate meetings, preparing materials and gifts, processing expenses, and coordinating cross-billing
  • Partner with attorneys, associates, law schools, career services offices, and internal teams to coordinate recruiting events, candidate outreach, interviews, and other recruiting initiatives
  • Support Summer Associate Program administration, including onboarding, background checks, transcripts, biographies, orientation, welcome events, iManage files, and Summer Associate Weekend logistics
  • Serve as a point of contact for candidates and summer associates throughout the recruiting process while assisting with recruiting reports, hiring goals, surveys, exit interviews, and other Legal Recruiting projects


Qualifications for Legal Recruiting Assistant:

  • Bachelor's degree required; strong academic record preferred
  • Relevant experience in recruiting, recruiting coordination, human resources, professional services, or administrative roles preferred
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing deadlines, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong judgment, professionalism, and the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, candidates, law schools, and administrative staff at all levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with recruiting, legal personnel, applicant tracking, or HR systems such as PeopleSoft or iCIMS is a plus
  • Strong research, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to quickly learn new applications, synthesize information, and proactively resolve issues
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments, maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive candidate information, and work overtime as needed during peak recruiting periods
