What you'll do

As a Manager in the Legal Management Consulting practice, you will lead advisory engagements for law departments and law firms on strategic transformation initiatives. You will partner with client executives to diagnose organizational challenges, develop actionable recommendations, and guide implementation of operating models, organizational structures, technology strategies, and AI capabilities. You will demonstrate strong executive presence with senior client stakeholders, manage engagement scope and economics, and independently lead workshops, strategy sessions, and project deliverables. You will coach and lead teams of Senior Consultants and Consultants in the US and India on engagement delivery. Your focus will be on helping clients optimize their legal function's performance, efficiency, and strategic value. As a part of the practice, you will contribute thought leadership and market insights on legal transformation trends and emerging leading practices.

Responsibilities include

  • Lead diagnostic work and develop strategic recommendations on legal operating models, organizational design, technology strategy, and process optimization for client law departments and law firms
  • Serve as the primary client engagement lead on assigned projects, managing client relationships, scope, deliverables, and timelines
  • Design and facilitate client workshops, strategy sessions, and working group meetings to diagnose challenges and develop solutions
  • Manage engagement economics, project resourcing, and team coordination across the delivery team
  • Coach and lead Senior Consultants and Consultants on engagements, providing oversight of work quality and team development
  • Oversee development of client deliverables, proposals, and strategy documents with quality oversight and final review responsibility
  • Conduct analysis of legal spend, legal operations benchmarking, and organizational effectiveness assessments
  • Develop and deliver insights on legal transformation strategy, emerging legal technologies, AI applications in legal functions, and organizational best practices

Deloitte's Legal Business Services (LBS) practice partners with law departments and law firms to optimize their legal functions through advisory, strategy, and implementation support. The Legal Management Consulting sub-practice within LBS focuses specifically on legal transformation, bringing together consultants with deep experience in legal management consulting, law department operations, law firm practice services, and legal industry trends. Our multi-disciplinary approach combines strategic advisory, organizational design, technology strategy, and operational excellence to help clients navigate complex legal function transformations and build capabilities for the future.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-located in person 2-3 days per week
  • Bachelor's degree in law, tax, finance, business or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant consulting, law department operations, law firm management, or legal services industry experience
  • Experience leading or supporting advisory engagements on organizational design, strategy, operating model development, or business transformation
  • Experience working with law departments or law firms on legal operations, strategy, or transformation initiatives
  • High proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, particularly PowerPoint for client presentations
  • General knowledge of legal technology platforms and their applications
  • Prior experience in professional services, management consulting, or advisory roles
  • Advanced experience with technology strategy, legal technology platforms, legal analytics, or AI tools and applications including Claude
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Ability to travel 25%, on average based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible: 
      • Licensed Attorney (or foreign equivalent)
      • Advanced degree in the Legal profession or a relevant industry certification. Examples of advanced degrees in the Legal profession include: Licensed Attorney, Juris Doctor, or Master of Laws / LLM. (Requiring advance approval from NSLL and National Tax Talent prior to pursuing any certification)

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $134,475,150 to $274,750.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
