About the role

At Blackbaud, our Law Department is evolving into a modern, scalable, and highly effective business partner. As our Legal Operations Principal, you'll play a key role in making that happen. You'll combine operational leadership, financial management, governance support, and process improvement to help the Law Department operate efficiently and deliver greater impact across the business.

Working closely with the Chief Legal Officer, Legal leadership, Finance, IT, and external partners, you'll drive operational excellence, optimise legal spend, support Board and governance activities, and enhance the systems and processes that enable our legal team to perform at its best.

We're looking to base this role within proximity to our Charleston headquarters, as it will involve regular support for Board meetings and engagement with executive leadership.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead legal operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, spend reporting, eBilling administration, and invoice management

  • Manage legal technology, vendors, and operational programmes to improve efficiency, scalability, and adoption

  • Partner across Legal, Finance, IT, Tax, and Treasury to streamline processes and support strategic initiatives

  • Coordinate Board and corporate governance activities, including Board materials, director onboarding, compliance filings, and entity management

  • Support the Chief Legal Officer and Legal leadership team through departmental planning, knowledge sharing, meetings, and key projects

  • Quarterly visits to our Headquarters in Charleston, SC will be required for this role

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years' experience in legal operations, corporate paralegal, executive support, or a related legal function

  • Experience managing budgets, billing processes, financial reporting, and vendor relationships

  • Strong project management, organisation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience supporting senior executives and working across multiple business functions

  • Familiarity with legal technology, eBilling platforms, board governance processes, or legal service providers

The starting base pay is $87,700.00 to $114,200.00. Blackbaud may pay more or less based on employee qualifications, market value, Company finances, and other operational considerations.
