DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Tech Sr. Manager, Legal Spend, Matter & IP

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business toestablisha standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation isanticipatedto be completed within 18 to24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may berequired, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Job Overview

This roleplays a critical leadership role in shaping the technology ecosystem that supports legal operations, including spend management, matter management, and intellectual property (IP) systems. This role drives strategy, scalability, and integration across enterprise applications to enable transparency, compliance, and data-driven decision-making within the Legal function. You will partneracrossIT, Legal, Finance, and external vendors to deliver modern, efficient, and secure platforms that support DePuy Synthes' global growth and innovation agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the technology strategy for Legal Spend, Matter Management, and IP systems across enterprise platforms.

  • Lead design, implementation, and optimization of integrated legal technology solutions, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and performance.

  • Manage and develop a team of technical professionals, including coaching, performance management, and capability building.

  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and Procurement stakeholders to translate business needs into system and data solutions that improve transparency and efficiency.

  • Oversee data governance, integrity, and compliance across legal systems, supporting regulatory and audit requirements.

  • Drive automation and process improvements for legal operations, including spend tracking, vendor management, and IP lifecycle management.

  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party platforms supporting legal applications and integrations.

  • Lead delivery of technology initiatives, managing timelines, risks, budgets, and cross-functional dependencies.

  • Establish reporting, dashboards, and analytics capabilities to enable insights into legalspend, matters, and IP portfolios.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldrequired

  • Master's degree (e.g., MS, MBA) preferred

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • 8-10years of relevant experience in enterprise applications, legal technology, or data/integration domains.

  • Experience leading technology teams, including performance management, coaching, and talent development.

  • Strong experience implementing or managing legal systems (e.g., legal spend management, matter management, or IP systems).

  • Demonstratedexpertisein systems integration, data architecture, and enterprise application delivery.

  • Understanding ofdata governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements in a global environment.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional programs and deliver complex technology initiatives on time and within budget.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with platforms such as e-billing/legal spend tools, matter management systems, or IP management solutions.

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, APIs, middleware, and integration platforms.

  • Knowledge of data analytics, reporting tools, and dashboard development.

  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization with Legal, Finance, and IT stakeholders.

  • Exposure tovendor management and contract-related technology solutions.

  • Understanding oflegal operations processes and best practices.

  • Certifications in relevant technologies, cloud platforms, or project management (e.g., PMP, Agile).
