What is legal marketing?

Legal marketing refers to the strategies and activities that law firms and legal professionals use to promote their services, attract new clients, and build their brand. This includes advertising, digital marketing, public relations, content creation, and client relationship management, all while adhering to strict ethical and regulatory guidelines specific to the legal industry. Legal marketers help law firms stay competitive and visible in a crowded marketplace by leveraging both traditional and modern marketing techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in legal marketing?

To thrive in Legal Marketing, you generally need expertise in marketing strategy, legal industry knowledge, and a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with client relationship management (CRM) systems, digital marketing tools, and analytics platforms is typically required. Strong communication, project management, and relationship-building skills help professionals stand out in this role. These skills are vital to effectively promote legal services, build firm reputation, and drive business growth in a competitive industry.

How does a legal marketing professional typically collaborate with attorneys and other departments within a law firm?

Legal Marketing professionals work closely with attorneys to develop client pitches, manage the firm's brand, and create marketing materials that comply with legal advertising regulations. They often coordinate with practice groups, business development teams, and sometimes IT or design departments to ensure marketing initiatives align with the firm's goals and ethical standards. Regular meetings and ongoing communication are common to gather content, review campaign results, and refine strategies, making collaboration a central part of the role.

Job description

We are hiring an SEO Client Success Manager to own the client experience across our enterprise client portfolio. We're not looking for someone eager to learn account management and client success. We're looking for someone who has already done it at an agency, with real clients, under real pressure and is ready to own it here. This is a relationship role, one that requires someone who can translate complex SEO into clear business outcomes, hold clients accountable to their side of the engagement, and consistently demonstrate the value of what we're building on their behalf.

If you've managed SEO accounts at an agency, know how to run a QBR without breaking a sweat, and genuinely understand where search is going with AI, read on.

What You'll Own:

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of enterprise logistics clients
  • Build trust-based relationships that extend the lifetime value of every account
  • Conduct regular check-ins, milestone reviews, and strategic business reviews (QBRs, Performance reviews)
  • Act as the bridge between our internal SEO team and the client — translating technical execution into clear, commercially relevant language

Onboarding & Time-to-Value

  • Lead white-glove onboarding experiences that set the tone for long-term retention
  • Build and manage onboarding milestones, pitch decks, and resource delivery
  • Ensure clients understand what's happening, why it matters, and what to expect next
  • Compress time-to-value by keeping internal teams and clients aligned from day one

Reporting & Accountability

  • Own reporting cadences; dashboards, lead trackers, and performance summaries
  • Use tools like GA4, AHrefs, Callrail, GBP, and reporting platforms to automate and systematize what's delivered to clients
  • Hold clients accountable for their deliverables (content approvals, access, technical fixes) without friction
  • Make results visible, measurable, and tied to business outcomes the client actually cares about

Retention & Revenue Expansion

  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities naturally through the client relationship
  • Flag churn risk early and proactively address dissatisfaction before it escalates
  • Contribute to playbook development — what works in onboarding, what resolves objections, what keeps accounts sticky

SEO Fluency

  • Speak to SEO confidently; you don't need to execute it, but you need to own the conversation
  • Understand AI SEO, AEO, and GEO well enough to position Elite Legal Marketing’s work accurately
  • Relay meaningful product and client feedback to the internal SEO team

Requirements

  • 3+ years in an SEO or account management role at a digital or SEO agency
  • Strong client communication skills; written, verbal, and in a live QBR setting
  • Demonstrated ability to retain and grow accounts, not just maintain them
  • Hands-on experience with reporting tools, dashboards, and automation
  • Working knowledge of SEO; enough to speak confidently with clients and relay context to execution teams

BONUS POINTS

  • Familiarity with PPC, LSA, Social is a bonus not a requirement
  • Legal industry experience is a bonus, not a requirement; we'll train the vertical

Success Metrics

  • Client retention rate at or above 90%
  • QBR completion rate and client satisfaction scores
  • Onboarding milestones hit on schedule
  • Upsell and cross-sell contribution
  • Reporting delivered on time, every time
