2026 Summer Legal Operations Intern

Position Summary:
American Credit Acceptance is auto-lender and financial services company seeking a highly organized Legal Intern to support the Legal Department during Summer 2026.
As our Legal Intern focusing on commercial agreements, you’ll be at the heart of how our business operates. You’ll help review, draft, and refine contracts and commercial terms that shape partnerships and internal processes. The ideal candidate enjoys commercial transactions and contracts law, legal operations and process improvement, and working in a collaborative corporate setting.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
· Assist in reviewing and editing commercial agreements and legal documents, including NDAs, dealer agreements, employment law related matters, and vendor agreements
· Support the Vendor Management and Legal team in the creation of a Center of Excellence for contract terms, provisions, and best practices in a template library
· Maintain and organize the contract management system, ensuring documents are up-to-date and accessible
· Conduct legal and regulatory research on financial services matters and industry best practices and provide summaries, reports, and research findings to legal leadership
· Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
· Support additional legal and operational projects and initiatives as assigned
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information and clarify contract terms
· Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives for contract workflows
Location:
Fully onsite in Spartanburg, SC with no hybrid or remote available.
Qualifications
· Current enrollment in an accredited law school (2L or 3L preferred)
· Strong interest in commercial transactions, contract law, and corporate legal practice
· A collaborative mindset and the confidence to ask questions and seek feedback
· Excellent writing, editing, research, and organizational abilities
· High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information professionally
· Familiarity with legal research tools or databases is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
· Interest in corporate, transactional, compliance, or in-house legal work
· Previous internship, administrative, or professional office experience preferred
· Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
